In the world of bathroom renovations, some projects leave a lasting impression, and this project completed in early 2018 was no exception. This unique bathroom installation blended kitchen charm with modern design enabling us to merge our clients passion for food and cooking with a functional, stylish bathroom design. The property itself was rich in local history having been constructed in the early 1990’s on the site of the former local football ground. This unique background added an intriguing layer to the project, as we aimed to create a space that respected its past while embracing a contemporary aesthetic. As we began the installation, we encountered an unexpected problem. The internal walls, made from corrugated plasterboard, posed a challenge when we started removing the existing tiles. To our surprise, the plasterboard began to come away with the tiles. At the time, we faced a a supply issue with Gypsum plasterboard, which would have been our go to solution for the reconstruction. Instead we went for the meticulous approach, carefully chipping away the tiles to minimise the damage to the walls. Once we had cleared the tiles, we employed an Orbital sander to smooth the surface of the plasterboard, preparing it for the new tiles. This painstaking efforts essential to ensure the flawless finish the tiles required. For the tiling our clients had chosen the Capello tile in Ink Blue and a white Metro tile both from Topps Tiles. These tiles were new to the market but remain popular today. The white Metro tiles were hung in the shower area and the walls in a zig zag pattern creating a striking feature, while the Capello Tile was laid on the floor. Additionally we crafted a niche in the shower wall, using the coordinating floor tile, providing a stylish and practical space for shower products.

To elevate the shower experience, we installed a Stuart Turner Monsoon shower pump from Victorian Plumbing, delivering an impressive 3.5 bar of water pressure and a Milano Elizabeth Brushed Copper Victorian Grand Ridged Rise shower system and hand set from The Big Bathroom Shop. This addition transformed the shower into an indulgent experience, complemented by an Merlyn Iconic Essence shower door and an Aurora rectangle non slip stone resin shower tray both from Plumb Centre. Creating an elegant finish. Staying true to the clients culinary passion, we incorporated elements reminiscent of a kitchen. An Ideal Standard WC, pan cistern & seat from Plumb Centre provided functional quality, while the bespoke basin and vanity unit were standout features. The basin was an old copper kitchen bowl, it not only served as a functional piece but paid homage to to the clients love for cooking. To tie the look together, we used copper coloured fixtures that echoed kitchen utensils and a Chatsworth Polished Copper Floor Mounted Towel Warmer all from Victorian Plumbing. A Milano Zandra, brushed copper industrial high rise mono mixer tap from the Big Bathroom Shop, completed the overall aesthetic, adding a final touch of sophistication.

This project was undeniably labour intensive, requiring a clear vision and dedication from both the client and our team. The combination of the clients passion for cooking and our commitment to deliver quality craftsmanship resulted in a stunning bathroom that has not only withstood the test of time but also retains a contemporary look seven years later. This bathroom installation shows the beauty of blending different passions and styles. It showcases how a space can reflect personal interests while maintaining functionality and elegance. This project serves as an inspiring example for anyone considering a renovation that tells their unique story.
